The photographer

Guy Lahaie

Photographer, artist, night-sky enthusiast — and lifelong observer.

It all began with a Kodak Brownie, a gift from my parents at a young age. That early introduction sparked a curiosity that later grew into a lifelong passion, capturing the world through the lens of a camera.

My passion deepened in adulthood, particularly while stationed with my wife at Canadian Forces Base 4 Wing, Baden-Söllingen, Germany. Acquiring a Pentax ME Super 35mm camera marked a significant milestone, opening new possibilities for creative expression.

Throughout two careers spanning four decades — a military career and later as a technical aircraft instructor — I made time to travel whenever I could, soaking in the diverse landscapes and cultures I encountered along the way, from the vistas of Switzerland to the streets of Spain to the wilderness of Kenya. My lens immortalized the beauty of the world around me.

Retirement brought newfound freedom — a chance to immerse myself once again in this lifelong love, with a Nikon D750, later joined by a D850, to explore new horizons with greater precision. My portfolio now spans a wide range of subjects, from rural and urban landscapes to wildlife, and a growing exploration of the night sky — from the Milky Way to star trails.

To me, every photograph is an invitation to a visual journey, infused with emotion, adventure, and wonder at the world. I hope you find in them a glimpse of that same endless beauty.
